Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 25, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Melanie Cox and the team supporting her website (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collect, use, and handle information through themelaniecox.com. It covers this website and the contact and newsletter forms on it.
Information we collect
- Newsletter signups: your email address, the time of signup, and a record of your request to receive updates.
- Contact inquiries: your name, email address, inquiry type, message, and any organization or phone number you choose to provide.
- Technical information: our hosting and security services may process IP addresses, browser and device information, requested pages, timestamps, and error logs to deliver and protect the website. The forms use a protected identifier derived from an IP address to limit spam and repeated requests.
Please do not include payment details, passwords, government identification numbers, or sensitive personal information in a contact message. Purchases are not processed on this website.
How we use information
We use contact information to respond to inquiries, discuss speaking or media opportunities, and manage related correspondence. We use newsletter information to maintain the subscriber list and send the updates you requested. We also use technical information to operate the website, troubleshoot problems, prevent abuse, and protect stored submissions.
Sending a contact inquiry does not automatically subscribe you to the newsletter. Newsletter signup is optional and currently uses single opt-in; the website does not verify email ownership through a confirmation email.
Service providers and sharing
The website is hosted on Vercel. Contact submissions and newsletter signups are stored in private Vercel storage and are available to authorized website administrators. Contact inquiries are also delivered through Google Workspace email. Authorized team members may download submission records to respond to inquiries or manage the newsletter manually.
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Information may be disclosed to service providers supporting these functions, when required by law, or when reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, or the security of the website.
Cookies and browser signals
The private administration area uses a sign-in cookie. The public website does not currently use advertising cookies or third-party behavioral tracking tools. Hosting services may use technical measures needed to provide and secure the site. We do not track visitors across other websites for advertising, and the site does not change its behavior in response to a browser’s Do Not Track signal.
Retention and security
Submissions remain in the private records until managed or removed by an authorized administrator; there is no automatic deletion schedule. Email correspondence and downloaded copies may be retained separately for handling inquiries, operational records, and legal obligations. Removing a newsletter signup from the active list may leave a private archive record. A request to delete personal information is separate from a request to stop receiving emails.
We use access controls, encrypted connections, and private storage to help protect information. No online service or transmission can be guaranteed completely secure.
Your choices and requests
You may request removal from the newsletter list at any time by contacting us or replying to an email from our team. Please identify the email address you signed up with. You may also contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of information you have provided, or to ask about its use. Depending on where you live, additional privacy rights may apply. We will review requests under applicable law and may need to verify your identity before disclosing or changing records. Some information may need to be retained for legal or security reasons.
Children and international visitors
This website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has submitted information, please contact us so we can investigate and arrange appropriate removal. Our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries, where privacy laws may differ from those where you live.
External websites
Links to Amazon and other websites take you to services with their own privacy policies. Their collection of information, purchases, and account features are governed by those services’ practices.
Updates and contact
We may update this policy as the website or its practices change. The effective date above identifies the latest revision. For privacy questions or requests, please use the contact page and select “General inquiry.”
